Robert Dugoni's, '' My sister's grave '' is a mix of mind-boggling questions and twists. Dugoni's impeccable way of making the protagonist, Tracy Crosswhite, ask the questions coming from the readers as they read. Both Tracy and the readers on the same step throughout the story, knowing only that much of uncovered.    Reminiscent past times, humor, all make a good base for a thriller novel. The utter boldness of characters, ferocity on a peak, but timely pecks the more emotional venture. Slipping in-jokes, during the most crucial court hearings, the soft side of the aggressive dogs, and most importantly, the geography of the novel.   A Setting of the northern Cascade mountains. The best site for campers, ranges, and hikers. Or eventually a site for a missing person presumed dead.    The plot - Young Sarah Crosswhite goes missing for nearly 20 years. cross-state, border Searches conducted months into her disappearance availed no boon. Only to find Sarah...

Dreams

Image
Awake, but tired. almost retired. The day comes to an end, as the skies blend into dark. Held in the arms of sleep, The world of reality fades away. As you enter the world of DREAMS. Butterflies and beauty for some, memories and memoirs for others. But not all are alike, some dislike DREAMS. MY DREAMS, I dislike... and DREAMS dislike me. As I enter this world, Many horrors come forth. That takes away warmth. This is unlike the dreams of ambition and passion, They cause distraction. Placed in a room full of people, could be comforting in a horror movie, but alas! not in a DREAM. Wisps of smoke is all I see, my vision blurs as the horror refers. Hands of hers, choke my neck. A pain so bad now has become LUCID. Awake but dreaming, to feel helpless, only to almost die, what a sigh... I scream in pain to the people around, but none hear. Death nears. In a jolt, I wake up from my lucid dream, Sigh to have had another nightmare. Long gone are the DREAMS O...

A Blank Paper

A reflection of one's self I am. longing to be scripted. To pour out bottled up ink from your heart. With your pen as the dart. Papers, propaganda, and broadcast, All flies as time does. I remain still, still like the river that doesn't ripple and getting crippled. It is only I dear, that knows your battle. A battle with hatred... But If you'd like to be treated... You know where I'd lay Let it all out, child. For there is nothing to hide. Write...my dear, write the depth of your shallows and bring light to the hollows. For you can't drown, because I am the mast of the ship. And only you matter...my sole sailor Don't be a jailor... Fill my white void with the darkness in your heart, And I promise I will play the part And keep it in my heart secretly... A blank white paper is all that you need.

In my sleep

Image
Cold pillows, sweaty skin is just the beginning In deep slumber, I live inside my world. Lulling myself to sleep while I fret, Fret to meet the threat. My vision blurs and soon lost in the realm of black Not for long. Soon there's light, but it is dark. I see something... And my head starts throbbing. A cemetery ahead, '' Don't worry, you just died '', said a voice. Sharp pain and blood and guts are all I see. Did I die? Suddenly, In a sketchy room alone, limbs tied to the bone. In comes he, the pain. With a butcher knife... Tried to run for life But my carcass soon was thrown in a pit of no see... Scream, run, and hide... For the last death, It is going be a long way. Thundering clouds pouring over me... pouring all its misfortune, I can't see my face... It's bagged, But I can see through A blurry site, I make out a treeline Heading toward is the end of the line. WHERE AM I? Running...looking behind you to escape from...

The Connection

Image
You look at it every day, And it almost so similarly looks back at you. You're right and it is left. You both have the same hair, same eyes, the same figure. But very different at the thought, more like she is evil and you're nice or the both of you are evil, but she could never really be nice or make you feel that way when she looks back at you. But at the end of the day, you're you and she's her, but you both happen to be the same people.  It is often called as the connection between both the worlds, in your case, you and her. A very high amount of paranormal activities occur near portals. A portal is a connection. There can be many objects that way but yours is the most heart throbbing one. What do you think? when you so deeply look into your portal? And see you looking back at you with an unhealthy grin?  Yesterday, My portal opened. Last night, I was awakened from my slumber to a faint noise coming from a corner of my room. I set to my feet and tumbled ...

Autopilot

Have you ever forgotten your phone? When did you realize you'd forgotten it? It probably didn't dawn on you spontaneously. More likely, you reached for your phone and were confused by it not being there. Then you did a mental re-step of the morning's events. In my case, my phone's alarm woke me up as usual. But I realized the battery was lower than I expected, so I put it on the counter to charge while I showered instead of it in my bag like normal. It was a momentary slip from the routine, but that was all it took. Once in the shower, my brain got back into the routine it follows every morning and that was it, forgotten.  This wasn't just me being clumsy as I later researched. This is a recognized brain function. Your brain doesn't just work on one level, it works on many. One could never be thinking about just exactly one thing at once. It makes you follow a constant routine so that your brain can focus on other things like the fact that I wasn't thi...

The Message

Image
Don't you dare tell this to anyone! Dear reader, you just can't tell this to anyone. There's this thing...that I need to speak of to you. It preys on you, seeks pain, your pain. I came to warn you of it, but I think it is too late, way too late. Now it senses each of my movements, It will stop me at any costs...just so that I don't tell you about this creature. I cannot talk or write about it, for it will know if I do and destroy any evidence of it, with me along with it. So, I've gone into hiding, hopefully, for a while, I can stall it.  Look, you are its target. It will try to get to you as soon as it knows that you know about IT. As soon as you read this, you are its prey, don't fall in its clutches or else, the price you pay will be overburdening.  Behind its treacherous claws are all those who could not evade it...The dead cannot warn you, so I chose to do it, but I won't be any alive than I am right now after a few hours.  You must ...

The Coat Hanger

Image
It is just a mere thing during the day that everyone owns, but at night it looks like an entity or is it one? The coat hanger serves one purpose, to bear the hanging clothes or more specifically coats. I love a collection of black or brown, maybe beige-colored coats, it differentiates my personality from others. But during the night, there may be any color or even ' the white ' but it all fades into one shade at night, Darkness, the shade of no life and in my case, solitude.  I live all alone in my cozy apartment in complete luxury and bliss until the day I paid attention to my coat hanger. It looked like a figure, but shapeless. It felt like it was looking at me, glaring at me, sensing each of my movements. I thought I was being paranoid ( The state of being overcome with fear and anxiety ).  Each night, I kept glaring back at it and it did the same. As nights passed, the once shapeless entity seemed to form shapes, more like a figure of a person, similar to that of a...

In search of truth

The door to the emergency ward flung open and I was rushed in. I was a blood ridden corpse. The doctors were panicking but kept a cool demeanor on their faces. They say that I was hit hard in the prefrontal cortex and Amygdala. This was very difficult to treat and survive. The doctors thought I couldn't make it, hopelessly, they continued the surgery. I was barely clinging to life, as my pulse started to drop. But after twenty long minutes of surgery and effort, It finally paid off. My Pulse increased to normal which averted a Brain failure and pulled me away from imminent and literally ' grave danger '.  All things move with time, Time is the all-powerful substance. For a person who has survived such a brutal accident, would retain only two things as time passes. The memory of the accident and the scars on the body if there are any. Well, My case is complex, or should I say simple? I just retain the scars. Yep, It's true, I have suffered from a chronic memory los...

It's the voices....

I always used to be scared of them voices....I mean, they are so creepy. Let's say, you are on a walk....and I would like you to picture yourself walking down an empty alley way, it is late afternoon and the sun has hidden itself, dark clouds have taken its place instead. The wind is howling in your ears and you get that uncomfortable feeling of being watched. I can't really say that I believe in all the supernatural beings and life after death stuff..but when you are alone, you start to experience things...Anyways, you are walking down the alley and suddenly hear a sound...like a whisper, maybe calling out your name or saying randomly weird stuff.   Your first instinct is to panic, you look around nervously and proceed walking....but at a faster pace of course. And you feel as if this voice is following you, you might begin jogging at this point. Then you really start thinking things like....you are being stalked by a spirit who wants to posses you....you look back to s...

It's sound

I swear to god....I heard it. I always thought what the sound said, but others always said that it is not a sound and is lifeless. I often found myself sitting down in an empty room, listening to the sound. And it felt as if it was trying to say something, but only I payed attention. It played tricks on me and I pleaded it to be more understandable, but it was of no use. The sound originated mostly at my home and sometimes in my head around sheer silence. I had enough, I rushed home and threw my bag away and screamed, ' what are you saying! ? '. And for the first time...I heard it, my voice echoed back to me, which was an odd thing to happen...right then, the most astonishing thing happened.....I heard it, for all these decades, I pleaded it and today, I heard it. It may have taken my life or to be more understandable, I traded my life for it...Today, I heard it.....The sound of Silence...I heard it...now that I am free from my body....I will pass the sound on..hopefully, to o...

The thing in the woods

Image
It was winter when I visited my cousin in Pasadena, She lived in a humble dwellings in a remote place. She warmly welcomed me into her house. ' been long Kate, How are you doing ? ' I asked. ' I am doing as well as I can ', replied she. We gossiped for a while. I went to my room upstairs and got changed for dinner. Soon the meal was served, grace was said and we started to devour our food. ' Does is feel alright to live almost in a forest ? ' I questioned. ' Well, it does get quite irksome ', She replied. ' Is it safe ? ' I questioned. She sighed and answered, ' sometimes '. I could see that Kate was quite disturbed, before I could ask her anything, she said, ' It's getting late, we should call it a night '.  Kate went out to her lawn after saying so. I could she her through the window. Minutes had passed by with her out, I could no longer see her through the window, I hurried outside and saw her in the far corner of the l...

She's coming

I pounced out of my slumber pod on account of hearing something. We were having a thunderstorm that night. The roaring sound of the downpour and the thunder was filling the atmosphere. But that didn't wake me up, It was something else, Something bigger. I soon realized that the disturbance was coming from downstairs. I was afraid of the dark, At first, I refrained from approaching the disturbance. I was all alone, I needed to be brave. So, Without further delay, I mustered up all the courage I could and trodded down the stairs. I was now downstairs quietly listening to the noise. It was like a thud on the wall. I couldn't tell from which one of the fist full of rooms the thud came from. It was pitch black, And the only thing illuminating the corridor was the flash of lightning coming from the windows. I started moving ahead slowly, And after each step, The thud only got louder. It seemed to be coming from the kitchen. I stopped in front of the room. The only thing that separa...
